He Has Risen
A couple tiny pieces of information for you guys today. Comic book legend, John Geoff has twittered a small detail regarding his episode "Society" simply saying:
@AaronisThinking Good seeing you too! Smallville JSA should be a lot of fun! Green Arrow vs. someone familiar to comic fans.
And then slightly later:
Had an amazing week at Smallville! JLA vs. JSA!!
Not a whole lot to go on but I am guessing that we will see at least one JLA member apparently fighting a JSA member or so these twitters say. Really by the time the episode is actually written, there will likely be more then just one JLA and more then one JSA character in it. Legion was a very well done episode so I expect nothing less from this episode.
Last thing to share is that the above picture was posted with the second twitter. Is it just a logo he made sharing his enthusiasm for the showor is there some hint behind it. I'm hearing everything from a hint about Clark finally flying to it being nothing more then to represent that Smallville is finally moving towards the beginning of Superman. It's probably just a logo design he made and nothing more but I figured I would share it with you guys none the less.

Saw that earlier myself on the shh boards, i cant wait to see what members will be used in society. I said this over on the SHH boards on thoughts on society episode:
ReplyDeleteLineup minus batman/superman/wonderwoman-
Flash Jay Garrick
Green Lantern Alan Scott
Hawkman Carter Hall
Sandman Wesley Dodds
Spectre Jim Corrigan
Doctor Fate Kent Nelson
Hourman Rex Tyler
Atom Al Pratt
Johnny Thunder / Johnny Thunderbolt John L. Thunder
Doctor Mid-Nite Charles McNider
Starman Ted Knight
Mister Terrific Terry Sloane
Wildcat Ted Grant
Black Canary Dinah Drake
So with this lineup of characters likely to be picked from i wonder who we will end up getting. First off we could probably scratch alan scott off due to the green lantern film in the works, Jay is likely another one off the cards too.
So without them we still have a wide group to pick from. Also we have to look at this budget wise which characters are easiest to pull off on smallville's budget with look/powers. In my mind after going through the jsa powers these are the guys i think will end up as potentials: Wildcat, Atom, Black canary(might be a good way to get into jl's canary's past), Starman, doctor mid-nite, Johnny thunder, hourman, and sandman.
In my mind we are likely only going to be seeing 3 or 4 members at most to also keep the budget down. So who do you guys think it will be? Also i hope even if certain characters dont get seen maybe they could be mentioned to have been members and were killed/died over the years to make a mention to them.
I want to know how are they gonna explain the JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA? For one thing, they originated in the 40's during the WW2 era. On top of that, in more recent years that was exlained as them being from EARTH-2. Same with the Golden Age Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman. And I know DC has had so many CRISES that who knows what is currently what, especially if you're not actively following the comics, but I want to know how the Smallville team is gonna explain this?
ReplyDeleteIS THIS where the rumored 'parallel universe' ties into? And not only that, but could Clark possibly have a COUNTER-PART, as in a version of himself that just happens to be OLDER & also has some balls? ;)
non_amos (if indeed that is your real name),
ReplyDeleteIs there a reason why the JSA can't be from the WW2 era of the SV-verse?

Yea johns mentioned the other week or two that it will be retired heroes coming out of retirement. So whos to say they cant be heroes who were around in the 40s/50s who might have not been that publicly known. Then when they went inactive in say the 60s they just became stories/myths. Also looking at it say they were in their 20s when they started in the 40s they would be in their 70s in the late 00s. Or maybe they could say their exploits are what started the comics industry in smallville's world.
ReplyDeleteColors, 'non_amos' is JUST as real a name as 'thecolorsblend', right? You do know this is the Internet, correctamundo? But I always get this impression that you're really 'hinting' at something but you never do answer me about that when I ask. Want to enlighten me & quit beating around the bush?
ReplyDeleteAs for the idea of heroes from the 40's coming out of retirement, that sounds too much like THE WATCHMEN, even IF in the SV universe.
Incidentally, if anyone hasn't seen the 'Director's Cut' of Watchmen, please do so NOW! You WON'T be disappointed! It's a crying shame it didn't do better at the B.O. but it certainly wasn't for lack of being a good film!

ReplyDeleteThe idea of older folks coming out of retirement and having a conflict (of some kind or another) with the younger generation is a cliché. Nobody would watch that and think SV was ripping off Watchmen. Unless they're a moron.
And if they're a moron, they wouldn't have seen Watchmen in the first place so it's a non-issue anyway.

Obviously Hollis is the big winner from the director's cut. He has a whole lot more drama going for him. Still, I think both the theatrical cut and the director's cut are equally good overall. Watchmen is just a badass film no matter how you look at it.

"He Has Risen"?? Sure seems Johns has given his stamp of approval to Smallville, if it ever was in doubt after last year's episode.
ReplyDeleteTerminal, Neal Bailey and company must just love that!
But Colors, you STILL avoided my question! ;)

Dude, you think that's bad? Geoff Johns represents on the Legion DVD commentary. Any idiot who listens to it will notice him voluntarily heaping praise on the show. It's a kinda boring commentary (I miss Al and Miles, they made good commentary tracks) but a lot of stuff Johns says basically pisses on many of the complaints the Apologists have about SV.
Sidenote- should we even call them Apologists anymore? Their franchise is dead, their director has abandoned yet another ship, their headliner is most likely history and now all they have is their little message boards for fanfics and poor Photoshop manips. So isn't calling them Apologists legitimizing a group that doesn't even exist anymore?
- thecolorsblend
Yeah Colors, Apologists probably isn't the best description anymore.
ReplyDelete"LOSERS" is a better fit.
It's a nice feeling being proven right since 1996!
I know this is way not related but what shocking news to read about this morning with marvel comics/marvel entertainment and disney wow oh wow. Well i hope it will all be good for marvel their, and hopefully disney will be hands off. For more details on things check this link out:

Some new spoilers from Tvguide:
ReplyDeleteFaora and Basqat will be among the Kryptonian cronies we'll see with Zod.
- Confirming that the Mia Dearden version of "Speedy" is coming to the show, Peterson reveals that, like her comic book counterpart, Mia WILL be HIV-positive. "She has a sordid past and crosses paths with Oliver [Green Arrow] in some shady places,” Kelly Souders says. “But he gives her hope.” Mia, who will debut her red-and-yellow comic colors in Episode 6, has “amazing martial-arts skills” yet to be honed, Peterson says. (We had this episode listed as #7 on our Spoilers page, which may imply they're changing up the episode order a little)
- In "Idol," Zan and Jayna take the form of an ice sheet and a cougar, and although they won't have pointy ears, we very well may get a peek at their space monkey Gleek.
- The Justice Society returns "to give these screwed up guys of the next generation a needed smack-down," Geoff Johns says. The characters appearing are not yet known and will rely on legal clearances, but Johns says the characters will be in their 40's and Jay Garrick and Alan Scott will not be appearing.
- Brian Peterson reveals that Perry White (Michael McKean) might finally be working his way back to the Daily Planet! Here's hoping they can actually get him back.

ReplyDeleteFINALLY! And I'd believe there's a good chance of this happening or else I doubt they'd risk mentioning it.
