Smallville: Season 8 reflection / Season 9 speculation

Well, we're nearing what was going to be (and should have been) the end of Smallville. After the much welcome departure of Al "Super Liar" Gough and Miles "Along for the Ride" Millar, we saw the tv drama take on Doomsday of all villains. Even I must admit the design work is quite well done. However, a blatant copy off the Incredible Hulk?? Doomsday love-struck over Chloe the way Hulk pines for Betty?? Where's the originality?? Or should I say, what was wrong with the comic story??

Anyway, for all you Smallville fans out there, I give you this place to reflect on the past and dream of the future. Enjoy!

  1. Well this season so far i say has been pretty good. I have enjoyed most of what PS3 has given us. Yes at first i wasnt to keen on the whole human side to doomsday and i thought he would just appear for a few episodes as the monster form.

I do like they went all out with the costume and it looks great. Also the inclusion of plastique, maxima, legion, persuader, toyman have been great so far. Cant want to see the injustice gang in a few episodes, and the season finale.

As for the season i have enjoyed episodes 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,the lex/toyman bits of episode 14, 15, 16 partially, 17, and 18 was decent. Cant wait to see how the last few episodes run. Then to see where things go for Season 9.

Which season 9 i do think will be the end i dont think Tom wants to do more unless he doesnt stay happy and enjoy where the show is heading. Plus then where CW as a network stands and all that. Well There's my rant for season 8/9.

  2. I agree with Webhead, most of season 8 has been a major improvement over season 7 except for the Blahna arc from Hell. It dragged the season down and has had a hard time recovering from that.

I am looking forward to the rest of this season, I have high hopes for the remaining episodes. I loved Hex...I know that some ppl won't agree with me. I was a little disappointed with Turbulance, but the season is looking up again. Next is Stilletto.

  3. Steve, so when can we expect any NEW film info for the reboot? And really, what was so wrong with discussing other films? We all will either watch them or WANT to watch them. The actual website, to me anyway, seemed to have certain advantages. Will there be no more artwork or photos anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Feel free to send me any artwork and I will post it for people to talk about it.

I agree that the website had some advantages, but you have to understand that some important people who paid attention to the site and would respond to my emails quite regularly stopped paying attention because we became a site that did more fighting and making fun of other people than we did discussing how to save Superman. The site lost its respect. I did this as a means to try and get it back.

In the future though, I want to keep all posts within a thread about the topic only. So if anyone has a question for me or Emi, just send an email to: savesupermancampaign@gmail.com

  5. I dug season 7. I thought it was clearly the best since (and likely better than) The Mighty Season 3.

But it really felt like the show should've hung it up with season 8. I like having my favorite show... but I can't help wondering if there's really enough juice left in Clark's journey towards the cape to sustain a ninth season (or a tenth season, if the rumors are to be believed).

Listening to the audio commentaries from previous seasons though, I've got a new respect for Gough + Millar. Yeah, they made their share of mistakes but they often were only guilty of trying to make the best show they could under some really difficult circumstances beyond their control.

I'll never regret PS3 taking over though.

  6. Season 7 just like all the seasons had its high points and low points. They had too much of the relationship with Lana/Lex/Clark. There wasn't enough development of Clark toward becomming Superman.

So far this season there has been some major progress toward that development. Clark has moved to Metropolis, gotten a job at the Planet, moved on from Lana (finally even though it ended suckily), and he is trying hard to embrace his hero side.

I think that next season has definite possiblities. Progression in his development of alterego Superman, of his being an investigative reporter, and his relationship with Lois. I am looking forward to it, and will be there with bells on.

  7. As for what was wrong with Doomsday in the comics, there's really no character there to adapt. The SV Doomsday is Doomsday from the comics more or less, with a few extra things thrown in.

    ReplyDelete
  8. yea i agree with doomsday, he is a pretty one dimensional villain from the comics. Though at first i didnt really like what they were doing with him but it has worked pretty well so far. Yes a bit of a rip off on hulk/betty stuff but the other hand we could have probably got a major cop out where they just have some stunt guy with very little makeup and have some boney look on him and look stupid. But i am very glad as i said before they went all out with the actually doomsday monster suit.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Well, Season eight has been great so far, and Smallville's origin for Doomsday is infinitely better than the comic's version. So assuming that season nine keeps the goodness going, I'm all for it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yea i enjoy season 8 alot besides the last two lana episodes. But great overall season. And I cant wait to see what the show runners have in store and i do hope MP doesnt take the other two producers away from smallville. So all 4 can continue all the good they did this season. People have said the two who are pegged for mp are the better of the four.

  12. As for the feeding Doomy line...she only gives him ppl to pound into paste, not eat. LOL. He only has to kill them not eat em. I really don't think they would go the Hannibal Lector route with Doomy. LMAO.

I still haven't had any brain storms on how Clark is going to talk to Lois as the RBB. There have been theories circulating on Ksite, some good ideas others realy funny. Only one more week to go of Lanaville before we can get back to our regularly schedualed program of Smallville.

  20. Yea i totally hope the fos is getting fixed, been damaged for far to long. I know its a slime chance i hope for a stamp jorel voice over in the episode.

Also here is an edit phot of the doomsday set photo i darkened it up/sharperned it so we can see a bit more detailed in the suit.

  21. Ugh once again my post got eaten.

What I said was that we have to suffer through another episode of Blahna then finally a new episode. I am looking forward to Stiletto. I think this might be a turning point for Lois. Make her more understanding about trying to live a dual life. Make her more understanding and open to relationship with Superman/Clark.

  27. Yea that link was pretty funny, great interaction between lois and clark. Sharon right now my aol account is unaccessable so i cant receieve aol mail at this time.

I am so looking forward to Smallville again. The stills I have seen for later episodes I believe it is Beast. Look good too. I don't know what they are all doing at the FOS, but it does look like Clark is fixing it. Here is hoping for the FOS to be back.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yea i took hope he is able to restore the fos to all its glory. Cant wait to see where beast/injustice take the characters and man cant wait for the finale. Though i still wonder how the main 10 characters who are in the episode is going to go you know.

  30. Sharpermom, I'm having the same identical problem with Youtube. MY problems seem to start when I switched from McKaffe to Norton on my Internet security.

When I did a search on Youtube's site, it revealed that there's untold throngs of people out there having the SAME problem! It also gives 'so-called' instructions to try & fix the problem, but as yet I've not seen anything that actually works.

Steve, do YOU or anyone else on here who may be REALLY computer-savvy know what we can do?! I'm like Sharon, I can only watch Youtube now if it's embedded in another site; the actual site itself, no. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Your lucky I can't even watch the embedded ones. I keep getting that there is something wrong with the video or video not available. I cannot access any youtube sites either.

I go to megavideo or a few others that are available. One site I go to has their own player.

I would appreciate the help too. :(

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeah, & it's not just comics related stuff I have saved in Favorites. I've also saved NUMEROUS concert clips & VINTAGE pro wrestling matches, as in from the mid-70's. This is really frustrating now as I can't watch ANY of them. GRRRR!!!!! :<

    ReplyDelete
  33. hmmm i wonder whats the problem with youtube for you guys its been running fine for me when i go on it on my laptop and then from time to time when i go on it on pcs around campus. I havent had any problems with videos at all. My only problem is while here at school campus connection in dorm rooms is slow as heck. So a 1-2min vid takes liek 10mins to load up fully.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Darn it I didn't copy it again and lost my post. Oh well. I heard it has something to do with firefox. If you go and delete your cookies it is supposed to work, but you need to delete them every time you go to youtube. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan on it later.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey it worked. Hooray! I guess it is just a temporary fix though, and if it happens again you just repeat the process.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sharon, please share EXACTLY what you did, step by step. Please?! I want to fix my Youtube experience too. By the way, I have both Internet Explorer AND Firefox & haven't gotten anywhere with either of them lately.

    ReplyDelete
  37. it sucks you guys have been having so many problems with youtube as i said i havent had any. So getting back to smallville for the finale who do you guys think will be the characters getting killed off?

    ReplyDelete
  38. hey guys injustice photos just parasite/plastique with clark and tess in the mansion. Livewire/4th member not in the scene.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ok I went to system properties system maintainance and it has a catagory in there it deletes cookies. It worked! I just followed the steps there. You will have to retype all your passwords and usernames on regularly visited sites, but it is ok if you don't have a lot or they aren't too varied.

    I hope that it helps.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I still say it is going to be Tess and Davis. Clark might technically die, but he can't stay dead. Tess doesn't look to be in too good straights all tied up with Plastique and probably parasite looming over her with swords.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sharon, are you talking about under Internet Options when you click on the Tools' tab? Or is there some other way to get to this? When I realize EXACTLY what you're talking about, I'll probably be like, "DUH!"

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sharon, this is the error message I still get:

"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

Neither of these make sense because I DON'T have Javascript turned off & even when I update my Flash player, I still get the same crap.

If you have to, send me an e-mail to my Yahoo address. Maybe you can explain in more deatil there what you're talking about in deleting cookies (which also didn't work)?

    ReplyDelete
  43. If you're using IE, I'd recommend going to Tools/Internet Options/Browser History/Settings/View *Objects*... and then clearing the sucker out. If it's in there, it gets deleted. I've only got maybe 10 or 12 things in mine so I'd imagine yours is going to be similar.

    Uninstall Flash.

    Restart.

    Reinstall Flash.

Before doing this however, make sure that you experience the same problem with other Flash video websites. No sense going through this mess if that particular web server is the one with the problem, eh?

  44. Yeah tonight Stiletto. Hurray it has been such a long wait for a new episode. ED had an interview on the radio about the episode and it was hillarious. The costume she wore she could barely move in. She couldn't sit down at all. She is really funny. I laughed a lot during her interview. The guys on the radio were all fawning over her bad. I could imagine them all drooling and jostling each other trying to get to talk to her.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I found the link if your interested in hearing the interview.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Tonights episode was like a breath of fresh air. I really liked the episode. Lois showed some of her kick ass nature, and then turned more introspective. She realized a lot about the Superhero/dual identity dilema. Chloe seems to be in waaaaaaaaaay over her head. I guess the bad guy got what he deserved for trying to slice her neck. There were so many good parts of tonights episode. I can't wait till next week. I know the end of the season is getting close, but I am enjoying the hell out of these episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well i actually enjoyed this episode myself. I know alot probably didnt like it alot. But it was a great lois and clark reporting episode. Yes there was some silly stuff that happened like lois kicking the mugger's butt with her shoes at the start, her hero costume, and kryptonite ink for counterfitting. But sillyness aside it was still a good episode.

The start besides the mugging was cool with lois trying and failing to get into the edward R murrow awards. Nice touch on that i say. Its great that clark and lois are getting very proactive in the reporting game and lois's determination to get the blur to do an interview with her.

The concept of lois pretending to be a superhero is probably something that had happened in the comics before, and a very lois move to get the story she wants. I do like this gunho lois who gets her self into these tough situations but can also handle her self and isnt totally a damsal in distress. Speaking of the muggers they one bruno M is an actual character from the comics and is the leader of the criminal group called intergang. I do hope they expand on them hopefully next season. They would be a great addition to the show and work for the show's budget.

Also its great to see clark still being very proactive on his hero duty around the city. I liked the chat with chloe in the hospital/isis with clark about being a hero and that a love relationship isnt on his mind at this time. Finally they have clark where he should be. Also it was an interesting subplot for the episode with chloe continuiting to hide davis and protect clark from him. Also the missing laptop with jl information that needed to be taken before their files were compromised.

It was also great to see jimmy again, like lois he been shafted during the second half of the season. I do hope he and lois get more episodes next season. Sucks he is still doing the whole getting addicted to drugs thing. But it was nice to see lois convincing him to do photos of her for her stiletto story. I do hope they get jimmy back at the planet and is a reporter again next season. They need to get the jimmy/lois/clark reporting together dynamic.

It was great clark found jimmy and tried to save him from the mob guys but was prevented via kryptonite. I do like since like season 4 amount of kryptonite in episodes have been decreasing alot which is great. Also an interesting way to use kryptonite in the episode for printing press ink. Only other time we seen it used as ink was season 2 with the speed tatoes.

Now i know alot of people dont like when clark is getting saved by others but lois's save was pretty sweet scene. Also great to see clark ended up saving lois in the end and getting shot. Nice to see later in the episode clark is getting a bit smart these days and pretending to be faking still being hurt from getting shot.

Chloe i thought was pretty good in the episode and allison acted very well in her scenes. Same goes for tom and erica well rounded acting from everyone.

I totally loved the final scene with lois and the red blue blur on the phone. I so loved their chat and great to see that clark was blocking his real voice, nice touch there. Also loved the line about having a better name haha. So in the end loved the episode and cant wait to see what happened next week with the davis/clark confrenation and fight at the fos.

    ReplyDelete
  48. My complain is the Chloe and Davis storyline. It doesn't belong in the "Doomsday" story. Sorry, but I refuse to except this blatant ripoff of Hulk/Betty.

Other than that, the episode was decent. Not great, but decent. There have been far worse in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yea i agree too steve the whole chloe/doosmday angle isnt the best either, but it is atless an interesting plot i rather watch that then be shoved with more lana bullcrap.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Webhead, the 'speed' tattoes were from Season One actually, weren't they? Unless you're talking about a different episode? The one I'm thinking about is where the ex-jocks are using Kryptonite tattoos to rob people, speeding up their metabolism so they can walk through solid objects. Then they recruit Whitney.

Is that the episode you're talking about, or was there another such one in Season 2?

    ReplyDelete
  51. oh yea i was mixing episodes up i was thinking of the zachy ty brant episode when i was thinking of the tat one.

  55. Ksite has some more "Beast" photos up today. Also in other news they posted the official cover for the season 8 dvd set and its a nice lois/clark cover in the daily planet. In other news they are also reporting that tom and erica are officially signed for 9th season(though it been given they were already set for awhile).

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hey guys ksite has some pics up from doomsday. Also that ausiello dude has some more news reguarding the old/yet new character who is appearing in finale and due to be showing up next season too.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Tonights episode rocked. I loved the decisive Clark. His plan was a good one. If only it had worked out. Unfortunately Chloe made one bad decision after another. Missed Lois a lot. Even with the Doomy overload it was a good epi.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yes tonight episode i thought was another pretty good episode. The doomsday arc has been a great addition to this season along with the red blue blur arc too. I think what they have been doing has been pretty good. Yes some say its ripping off hulk/betty deal from marvel comics. But dc's doomsday is a pretty one dimension character.

So with smallville's take they took the monster beast and injected some nice dynamics to him with the whole human guise deal. At first i wasnt really down with it. But now at the end of the season things have been going pretty great with this storyline. I cant wait to see what happens with davis/doomsday in the finale in two weeks.

The opening dream scene with chloe was pretty weird. at first i thought it was real life scequence but then when we saw a dead and torn up clark i was like WTF! That was an intense scene. It was also pretty good to see emil hamilton again, and learn a little more with how he is working with ollie and the jl. I do hope we get to see more of him next season. Also it was cool that chloe was trying to get his help to maybe cure davis from the doomsday beast.

As for chloe herself she is in the right mindset to try to save clark and the world by losing her life and protecting/being with davis. But she is going at it all wrong, clark and ollie are right that davis needs to be taken care of. As for ollie he wants clark to kill him but clark is still trying to do other means of not killing which is against his code.

As for the phantom zone solution i thought that was a nice ideal and i know i read online others were thinking this is what might happen with davis/doomsday in the finale. The short fight in the fos was pretty nice preview which i hope we get a nice kick butt showdown in the finale.

As for chloe running off with davis in the end to protect clark is probably not going to end well with her. Clark doesnt want her to do that and ollie thinks it is wrong too. Also speaking of jimmy his addiction arc is getting interesting too and lead him to get into trouble again with davis. The end where ollie hires him to work for him was cool and nice to see. I cant wait to see what he is going to do with ollie. But i do hope next season they get him back to the planet with clark and lois.

As for next week looks interesting and i cant wait to see how the injustice gang episode plays out. They look pretty cool from the members we were able to see in the finale. Also i am a little pissed they are all wearing black i was hoping for parasite/livewire/and the 4th member to have a little bit more color in them. Also ollie with the kryptonite ring of lex makes us wonder what is going down there. Then what is up with tess and the purple orb. Cant wait to see what happens.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was bored out of my mind. I can't wait for the Hulk ripoff to be over with.

    ReplyDelete
  60. sorry you were bored with the episode Steve.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Me too, Steve, I think they are trying very hard to instill some continuity into the show. Fill up some gaping plotholes. I don't know what Chloe does to let Doomy loose in the end...Does she leave him?

Oliver doesn't seem to be up to anything from the spoiler pics of him shooting Clark with kryptonite arrow. Good thing Jimmy finds him, and takes it out. I guess this might wind up with Jimmy learing Clark's secret. Maybe Clark moves in with Jimmy in Metropolis next season. Don't they share an apartment at one time in the comics? Oh well I am just speculating.

I know that the beauty and the beast arc is kind of boring, but in the long run I think it will work out well. Much better than the Blahna arc.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ooops I meant I am sorry that you were bored to tears, Steve.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I dug it. I can already picture Hackjob Bailey skewering Chloe's mixed motivations but they add up. It makes sense. She's got a personal agenda in all this, try though she might to deny it.

I figured that TPTB would have Clark kick the stuffings out of Doomsday in the finale, trigger the PZ and then have them both get accidentally sucked in, fade to black, roll credits, see you in September! And then send the JLA in after him in the PZ on a rescue mission. Clearly that ain't what'll happen. Still, I liked that they were thinking of this as a solution and so deftly nixed the idea. That's smart writing.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Colors,

I went to Superman Home Page just out of curiosity to see what Bailey thought about Stilletto. I couldn't believe my eyes! He loved it, he gave it a 5/5. I am still in shock.

    ReplyDelete
  65. "I went to Superman Home Page just out of curiosity to see what Bailey thought about Stilletto. I couldn't believe my eyes! He loved it, he gave it a 5/5. I am still in shock."
I was shocked that it happened and shocked that it was for this particular episode. His reasons for doing so are yet more spurious, given that the character stuff he mentioned is native to many given episodes of the show. Maybe his unbiased side is fighting to get out?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Bailey gave "Stiletto" 5/5???? I need to sit down for a bit and have a cup of tea and a smoke, my head is spinning. You'll be telling me AP has started a Brandon Ruth Fansite next!

Jesus, you take some time out and when you get back you find hell has just frozen over.

Unbiased side? I don't think so knowing Bailey. I may be cynical but he wouldn't swing like this unless there's some agenda.

Then again, I can't see how any Superman fan would've failed to have been impressed by the Lois/Clark exchange closing "Stiletto"

    ReplyDelete
  67. "Then again, I can't see how any Superman fan would've failed to have been impressed by the Lois/Clark exchange closing "Stiletto""

    Didn't think so.

  72. Just a few hrs to go to Welling's directing tonight's injustice league episode. cant wait to see what he does this time around in the director's chair.

  73. Anyone know what that ending to Smallville was tonight? On top of not understanding what was going on with that 'glowing voice cloud' talking to Tess, I also had technical difficulties RIGHT THEN on MY end that lasted even through MOST of next week's preview! So can anyone explain what that was?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well tom's 4th directing spot was pretty good. I thought he did another stellar job directing. He had some great camera angles and the pacing was pretty good in the scenes. I think if tom doesnt want to act more after smallville's run maybe he should get into directing tv/film.

As for the episode i thought it was a pretty good episode, and nice lead in for the season finale next week. The injustice league members of plastique, parasite, livewire, and neutron was pretty cool. It was a bit disapointing neutron got no speaking role and was killed offscreen, i wonder if their was a scene shot but cut for some reason. Same goes with livewire a bit disapointing that she was killed off also. I was hoping she would have survived to get a solo episode next season. Though the development between parasite and plastique were pretty good.

Also the plan with the shapeshifter was interesting i remember hearing folks mention their was going to be a shapeshifter in the episode as chloe and i didnt really expect that to be happening. sucks she got killed too. But now tess knows pretty much all the details on kal-el she needs to know. But i dont think it will end well for her.

I did like emil hamilton working with clark and getting another good episode expanding his character. I do hope we get a bunch of episodes with him next season. His chemistry with tom was pretty good and they worked well together. Nice to see more team work going on there.

The storyline was pretty good with tess trying to get the injustice gang to go after doomsday to get clark to take him out. But she got over her head and as we saw parasite with clark's power and plastique took her out almost if clark and ollie didnt step in. It was nice twist having clark trick ollie to doing what he wanted him to do, and how ollie got tess's print. I loved how he got out of the situation of tess walking in on him. That was a pretty funny scene.

I liked in the end clark did find out ollie was the one who did the deed and "killed" lex. Boy that scene was pretty intense and clark and ollie's relationship has been on the rocks pretty much since they first met. I wonder how things will turn out with next week's episode.

The scene with tess and clark in his barn was interesting and there goes clark's plan of sending doosmday to the phantom zone. I wonder how things will go down now. As for the final scene with tess in the library with the orb speaking to her i am like wtf is going on there. All i caught is something about her being choosen to be kandor's warrior or something. I cant wait to see what goes down in the finale with that thing. Cant wait to see finale next week. Should be a good episode.

  75. Tonights episode was intense. I have to watch it again just to be able to formulate an opinion on what I think will happen next week in the finale. Oliver has gone way over the line, and next week with him shooting Clark proves it. Oliver using the ring on Parasite was good, but in my opinion it shouldn't have worked. Parasite isn't kryptonian so the kryptonite shouldn't have worked just because he had Clark's power shouldn't have made any difference. Oh well it was good anyway. Had too much interaction with Oliver and Tess. Needed more Clark and Injustice league. Tess has gone looney, and Oliver has gone dark. Clark is trying to do what he thinks is right, but everyone wants to push him into killing which is something that Superman doesn't do. Well anyway I am going to watch it again, and probably again. Tom did a great job directing as usual. I agree he should pursue directing more actively.

    ReplyDelete
  76. well its not the first time kryptonite effects a human when he/she has clark's powers it happened with eric and i believe lana when she had his powers.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The only reason it affected the humans in those instances was because some form of electricity was involved. With Eric it was first lightning then it was the power station. Lana it was first...hmmm lightning, then power cable...lol similar huh? The kryptonite-electricity combo was the transfer of the powers. The kryptonite itself didn't affect them or Lana wouldn't have been able to go into the room at all let alone stand there and suck face with Lex. JMO I could be wrong I would have to rewatch episodes to make sure.

  79. Ya know, last night we saw Clark's 'morality' come into play again. I'm not against morals, not at all, but Clark's 'self-righteousness' REALLY takes the cake! Ollie is right on THAT point, & so is Tess. Let me explain.

Now, I don't advocate going out there & murdering someone in pre-meditated cold blood, but if you're a SOLDIER in a COMBAT ZONE, you're gonna do what you've gotta do to SURVIVE! To spare both YOUR life & that of your comrades. THAT'S war! So we're really talking TWO DIFFERENT CONCEPTS here!

It's also like when a police officer responds to a call & ends up gunning down a madman who's possibly ALREADY killed & is prepared to kill more. He's doing his job; he's doing what's necessary. Does that make HIM a murderer? An EMPHATIC NO!

Now let's UP THE ANTE! IF there really WAS a creature such as DOOMSDAY, even the Davis Bloome version, it would be imperative AT ALL COSTS that he be brought down & DESTROYED! It's like Tess told Clark: destroy Davis, but SAVE an ENTIRE CIVILIZATION from EXTINCTION!

Now let me ask you, WHY is it so HARD for Clark to wrap his head AROUND that concept?! Like Spock said in Star Trek 2, "The needs of the MANY outweigh the needs of the FEW, OR the ONE." The name of the game is survival. In the case of a creature like Doomsday, the entire planet IS at risk. So take him out & ask questions later!

I know Welling doesn't write his part, but this 'smug' self-righteousness always seems to rear its' head, even in the face of logic. HIS Clark wants to play 'goody two-shoes' with Davis, probably even if it ultimately meant that his plan failed, because Davis is worth it, right?

In THIS Clark's case, the needs of the ONE seem to outweigh everything else, & it really can kind of 'irk' you sometimes, because like Ollie said, sometimes Clark IS gonna have to make the HARD decisions. In THIS Clark's case, I'd have to highly question his competency to even BECOME Superman for being such a wuss.

Like Dr. House told someone on HIS program, 'You're a WUSS. Part wimp, part puss." :(

  80. Decent episode, but....

What a waste of the "Injustice League". Killing off two of them after 30 secs? Livewire and Neutron didn't even do anything.

I have to admit the episodes that Welling directs seem to be better than a lot of the others. No idea why that is.

So, take you last guesses on who dies and who doesn't.

Clark is told he dies. There are the rumors from a while ago that Davis would become Zod which I blew off but the preview for next week showed a glowing "Z". Unless Goku and Vegeta are joining the fight, I'd say it could be true. According to the shows producers, the only people under official contract are Welling and Durance. So that means Chloe could still be the "original" cast member that bites the big one.

    What say you?

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think that Clark's idea of sending Doomsday to the PZ was a good one untill both Oliver and Tess decided that was not good enough. In their warped little minds Clark HAS to kill Doomsday end of story. WTF. They could have just let him get sent to the PZ where it is extremely difficult to get out of. Now both Oliver and Tess are forcing Clark to do what is against his moral code. Clark is willing to f'ing die to protect the world. Oliver even shoots Clark because he feels that Clark won't tow the line that Oliver thinks he should. Do the police go out of their way to kill ppl? Does anyone? If their is a way to save lives rather than kill, wouldn't you take it?

Anyway, I believe that Tess will certainly die, I believe that Bloome will suffer a metaphorical death. He will become Zod, and Bloome will cease to exist. Chloe might still be the one to bite the big one for good along with Tess. I guess we will find out soon. We all know that Clark will come back, so no worries there.

Yes I agree that every episode that Welling directs are very good. He has potential as a director IMHO. Even Marsters said so in an interview. I am looking forward to the season finale in a way, and dreading it in another. I hate waiting till September for the new season to start again. It sure is hard to wait.

  83. hey guys did you hear the news about allison's status with the show ksite was talking about today.

    ReplyDelete
  84. No didn't go to Ksite today. What is her status? Last I heard she is contracted through next season then no more. TW and ED supposedly are contracted through season 10.

I guess I will go to Ksite tomorrow and check it out.

Finale is getting closer. I am excited. I really loved last weeks episode. I have loved the spoiler clips I have seen so far, except for the Clark dying part...IMHO he shouldn't die until he is Superman.

    ReplyDelete
  85. well the finale is almost here guys. Cant wait to see how everything unfolds.

    ReplyDelete
  86. yeah! I am so excited and nervous. I don't want to see Clark die. I know he is going to come back, but still...

  87. Wow well this was a very interesting and shocking finale. I totally didnt see certain things happening that happened. Overall i thought the episode was pretty good. It was alot better then last year's finale.

The opening scene with clark and rokk was just as good as when i saw the webclip for it. The flying scene added at the start was pretty good.

It was great to have bart, dinah back and working with clark. I so enjoy him being alot more proactive and leader like. Its so refreshing. But his disagreements with ollie lead to their continuing conflicts.

It was nice to see clark was helping out lois again with her feelings on chloe's wareabouts. It was cool to see the phone thing again between clark and lois.

It was cool seeing jimmy and lois working together again. I miss seeing that. Then the scene of the jl turning on clark for his protection was nice. I didnt expect clark to come right out to jimmy after he took the krypto arrow out of him. But it was cool to see happen.

As for the orb storyline i wished more was done about it cause we didnt get much explaination on it. Then who or what made it explode through the safe and where did it go.
The fight with lois and tess was pretty sweet. That was a good showdown between the to. It wasnt to shocking to see lois disapear with the legion ring and but man wow. I wonder what is going to happen with lois now. Would when she is returned to the present could they bring her back at the moment she left so things could play out differently for everyone..... Hopefully we get an explaination on that.

The spilting of davis and the beast doomsday was cool. Glad none of the jl was killed. As we all thought the director's cut was pretty much the whole dd fight. But since they only incased him into the earth's core they can easily have him show up again next season. If the rumors of them wanting to use dd again a bit next year.

The "watchtower" set looked great i do hope it becomes the official jl hq next season and all that. From what we saw it was pretty cool looking. But then the whole davis pissed off, chloe and jimmy getting back together was a great sequence of scenes. But man totally didnt expect them to go and off jimmy. Wow i am surpirsed DC allowed them to do that to a mythos character. But it was sweet they had jimmy die a hero and he killed human davis.

The furenal scene was bittersweet and very sad. It was nice that bart, dinah, ollie, and even clarked showed up there. Only thing i thought was a bit out was the whole jimmy has a little brother deal. Didnt he say he didnt know where/who his mom was and that his dad was a drunk jerk in chicago or something..... But i do wonder if jimmy's brother will become the future real jimmy now?????

The end scene with clark and chloe in "watchtower" was another great scene. Very sad to see clark lose faith in humanity and wants to leave his clark self for good. I cant wait to see where the show goes now next year.

The final scene with Tess in the mansion very interesting and the rebirth of Zod looked sweet. Hopefully in the premiere they explain more how everything happened with that. cant wait for season 9 in the fall.

  88. WTF was that? I expected more from this episode. This episode did not flow well. There was not enough action between Clark and Doomsday. The Jimmy thing was corny. And the whole Clark attitude change was dumb. For a moment, I thought it was the return of Bizzaro. What a let down for a good season

    ReplyDelete
  89. So, we have two deaths that became one. Davis is reborn as Zod and Jimmy got a nice funeral. However, Lois used the time ring and we don't know where she went. Top that with the weakest possible fight between Doomsday and Clark. This episode was poor. I am not satisfied nor happy.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'll tell you what, if they keep screwing around with the mythos like this, will we even be able to HAVE a rebooted film? Jimmy dead? But how convenient the torch is passed to his little brother, who I assume will ALSO be called Jimmy.

I liked the cars being tossed around Metropolis ala THE INCREDIBLE HULK, but the fight could've been better.

What really continues to irk ME is the way Clark is continually written in this show. To begin with he was his usual 'wuss' self, because Davis is worth it, right? But then when he sees that Davis' human side is what killed Jimmy, he loses faith in humanity, in SPITE of what Jonathan & Martha taught him?

Sure, I'll watch next season & all. It's better than NOTHING, right? And nothing is what we're getting from the film franchise.

Nevertheless, give me a REAL Superman film anyday!

    ReplyDelete
  91. The premise was good but the writing and direction was poor. why was this episode not a two hour episode? I think we could have had better episode if they wrote a episode for two hours instead for 44 minutes. The following are I think they could have improve:

    1. A real epic battle of Clark and Doomsday. Show the audience how Clark trapped Doomsday.
    2. Explained why Jimmy was not "Jimmy". I would have his father saying that he used his little brother's name to hide or work purposes.
    3. NO ZOD. Why does it come back to Zod? C'mon writers be more original.
    4. They should have killed off Chloe. I like her but she does not belong in the mythos.

"Nevertheless, give me a REAL Superman film anyday!"

    Agreed

  92. yea i too wished the finale was 2hrs long. There was good and bad things in the episode.
Sucks we didnt get more of a throw down with clark and doomsday but we know show's budget is always a problem. To bad they dont have more money to do more things at times. It is pretty weird what they did with jimmy and his whole family thing. though yea they can easily explain jimmy wanted out of his crap life with his family and took his brother's name to make a new life for himself and all that. Its not uncommon for family memembers to have simular names. Heck my great grandfather, my dad, and myself all have the same first name but we all have different middle names and i tend to use my middle name more then my first name.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Rushed pacing, poor explanations, half a dozen light switch moments, a longer fight with Lois/Tess than with Clark/Doomsday and a totally weird mythos moment with Jimmy. Almost no Justice League time.

Felt like a trailer for next year more than a season finale. I was totally disappointed except for the more serious Clark moment at the end.

I'm with Steve...a real turd after a pretty good year (minus Lanaville).

  94. WB, at THIS point, you may want to re-consider the Superman reboot & go FORWARD with it.

I'll make a little suggestion. Get JJ Abrams to DIRECT it, & get the team of Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci to WRITE it.

WB, consider that they're on a roll right now. The Star Trek sequel is a 'shoe-in'. No doubt they'll come through with flying colors there also!

SO why not work the SUPERMAN REBOOT in there SOMEWHERE?! Certainly they'll do other projects BESIDES Trek, so sign 'em up already!
