Welling IS Superman!!
For those of you who missed the SDCC and haven't been paying attention to the news that came out of the Smallville panel, we got our first glimpse of the first Smallville version of the Superman suit. As I said it would be, the suit is more in line with the leather JLA outfits we've seen. Welling will don all black with a black trenchcoat and silvery blue "S" shield on his chest. Below is a cell phone shot of the very end of the presentation where he is in uniform and standing on a rooftop overlooking the city.

All I can say is that from what I could see this season is gonna rock. I guess we are gonna get that darker more exciting SUPERMAN finally.
ReplyDeleteI almost geeked out as much as some of the fans in the video... :))
Come on September!!!!
I still have my reserves regarding this darker suit, why they didn't do something in his colors is beyond me... I mean will he still be called the red blue blur ?
ReplyDeleteIMHO I think it is just a prototype type suit...he feels like his world is disintegrating so...darker colors...Besides didn't WB say sometime last year about making Superman darker....well looks pretty dark to me.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if they will still call him the RBB or not, don't think he will be RBBing either. I guess we will just have to be (ugh) patient and wait to find out.
Come on September! OK so much for the being patient part...lol
I was actually at the Smallville panel! Being there was so awesome! Oh this trailer was so wicked, badass, and epic! The Superman suit looks so wicked! The sex scene between Lois and Clark looked awesome and sexy! Oh yeah even Zod look badass too! It looked like I saw Metallo in there too. Oh I'm letting you know Lex Luthor isn't really dead and Toyman is coming back too. You should have seen the whole preview. If you seen the whole trailer you could hear the Superman Theme clearly and it showed all the Justice League members including Supergirl. Apparently this person didn't record the beginning. I could have recorded the whole trailer but I didn't because I would have been gotten kick out and miss all the excitement. Oh and I wished I have gotten Tom Welling and Erica Durance autographs. Some fans got to even the guy that dressed up as Batman which did a cool voice of him when he said, "When are you gonna put me on your show?"
ReplyDeleteMan I am soooo jealous.. I would have loved to have been there. Wow...So you gotta share more details...there is a clearer video available on youtube i got to see it, but it still doesn't compare to being there.
ReplyDeleteYea i too would have loved to been their or comic con in general i never been to one of those things before.
ReplyDeleteAs for the new season i hope it does well and it taks what was good at start of season 8 and keep that quality up. As for this black outfit, its an intersting look, and i wonder if maybe by mid/end of season he modifies it to a red/blue motif. As for the look of it, I and some others on the smallville SHH board thinks it looks simular to that black jorel outfit brando wore when he sentenced zod/ursa/non in superman the movie.
For those who haven't been watching, the Apologists have been shitting themselves over this news. Needless to say, they're not happy about this development or the interest the SV panel had at SDCC.
ReplyDeleteAwww tough crap if they aren't happy..we are! I hope this season goes sooooo well that the apologist have a coronary. hahaha
ReplyDeleteI am sooo looking forward to this season. I will be watching for sure.
Yeah it does look like the suit that Jor-El wore in Superman cool. I didn't think of it.
Bah, the SV continuity compliclates Superman too much. I don't see much resemblance to a Superman costume, more like Neo.

They have never said this black outfit will be his final superman look. And since their was that whole interviews with aaron/producers/sam witwer at the end of season 8 about alining thing to more comic known things, and that dc has a final say in things. They probably wouldnt let smallville end with him in a black outfit, plus he has wore black suits for various reasons in the comics. This is only a temporary prototype early outfit, then i say maybe(hopefully) by mid season he modifies it to red/blue, and then probably we will see the final suit look in the very last episode of the series be that at the end of season 9 or season 10, which we all know ratings will decide that. And the producers have said in one of the comic con interviews the network wouldnt just up and can them/tell them one episode before the finale that it will be the end.
ReplyDeleteHere is my discussion on it on CountingDown.com. I got a little more details on it on there and I have the whole panel posted too.

[insert link for bullshit video here]"
Translation- "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
After thinking about it some more and remembering the last episode of last season with Clark embracing his Kryptonian side it makes sense that after coming to Jor-El for his training he would wear the same kind of suit his father did as a member of the Kryptonian council so in that regard the producers made a good choice.
ReplyDeleteI just wonder if he's gonna be allowed to be called Superman, since red and blue blur is obviously out now that he wears all black...
But I hope he changes it by mid or end of the season to his colors and then come up with the classic suit in the final episode.

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one following these comments? Younis posted a blurb where Dave Gibbons sounded off on what the reboot should be like.
Since then, the Apologists have been tripping over themselves praising Gibbons. Most of them are convinced he wrote Whatever Happened To Man Of Tomorrow. Others are pretty sure he only illustrated it.
Still others have never heard of Dave Gibbons or Whatever Happened To Man Of Tomorrow.
It's hysterical, this totally explains why they're Singerman fans!
