Clois, Jor-El, Watchmen, Glasses and more!

For me, season eight of Smallville wasn't exactly the quality I was expecting from Smallville. The budget was obviously low, Chloe was intertwined with characters like Brainiac and Doomsday and overall the writing was downright bad at certain times. Season eight has some fantastic moments as it did horrible moments.

I went into season nine not expecting a whole lot of improvement in terms of budget and storytelling and thankfully, five episodes in I can tell you that so far I have been blown away by the increase in the show's quality.

While the budget is exactly the same as last season, it seems as if the producers have discovered away to get more out of the budget they have to work with. Beyond that the writing has greatly improved so far with only a few small things to nitpick at.

Season nine of Smallville has brought the show much more closer to the heroic Superman we all know Clark Kent to be in the comics and lately we have been getting a ton of information and stories regarding what we can expect in the rest of the season this year and man is there a lot to look forward to. Anyways, I thought I would post some articles for everyone here to check out:

Mega Buzz

On Smallville, will we see Clark wear a suit with some color this season? Or maybe wear his iconic glasses? — Sharlene
ADAM: Get used to the basic black, Sharlene. "He isn't quite done with his suit yet," says executive producer Kelly Souders. "This whole season is the alter ego before he starts transforming into the [Superman] that we all know." As for the glasses, she says, "There's a flirting moment with a pair of glasses. I won't say that he's definitely got them on, but I would watch the next little run. You'll see it in the first nine episodes."

From Geoff Johns Twitter (for one of his two Smallville episodes):

Doctor Fate's look is beyond accurate. The Vancouver crew is unbelievably spectacular. You will not believe the lengths they are going to!!

Doctor Fate looks kick ass!

Zatanna and Martian the Manhunter returning, Clois, Watchmen set being used in the episode, "Pandora", many more DC characters, Clark considering glasses, John Geoff's two episode long "epic" and much more for this season. This season has been awesome so far and it looks like the trend is going to continue.

So does anyone want to guess what Watchmen set they will use in "Pandora"?

  1. There has been so many interviews this week. Personally i liked most of peterson's interviews he has done. Souders most of the time was getting off on other things and all that.

Its also great phil morris is returning during the jsa episodes. Cant wait to see him back as john jones. I really enjoy his character and he is a great part of smallville. Hopefully he will have another appearance post jsa episodes.

As for zatanna i will be interested to see what will go down with her. Will she have a part in jsa two parter, or will she be later then that.

Also in a new ausiello interview sounders reveals we may be seeing another ner HERO who's name may or may not be cleared yet(probably waiting on final ok from dc my guess) only hints were its someone fans of the show may be familar with, and saying he might not be all that as he thinks. Which made me first think of the hero booster gold. Though dont know who it will end up being.

As for the costume/glasses deal. We all know we will likely not see a superman like suit to probably the end of the series. Though i do hope later in the season or if 10th season we have some modifications of his black outfit he is currently sporting.

As for the kandor pics. Man i been waiting for stills to come out for the episode. They look pretty good. Julian sands looks pretty good as jorel. Like others i do wish they either made his hair white totally(to say he is in that age range of hair going white) or dyed his hair to welling's hair color/or greying. Also zod looks cool in his kryptonian military outfit. Those jorel/zod scenes are believed to be during flash back scenes on krypton where we learn more on zod and how the "depowered kandorians" all came to be.

Cant wait for next few episodes, each all have interesting aspects i cant wait to see. First up with got CLOIS kissing and mia dearden speedy, then we get kandor, then the wonder twins that should be a fun one. Then we get pandora. Which we learned will feature what lois saw in that other future. Plus the smallville guys got to shoot on a still standing set from watchmen. I wonder what set that will be. Personally i would love if its the pyramid set to maybe tie into the whole solar building from the visions. I would be a little pissed if its just the 1980s new york city street sets. Since they have a purposely good street sets in their own backlot.

  3. Father, what do you mean? I assume you're talking about the LACK of activity here? I know what you mean. It seems that Webhead is the only one that even posts anymore. I mean, we may have won against SINGERMAN, but I wouldn't say that the REALISTS' battle is over YET! Until all of this crap is settled with the Superman franchise & we actually see a FILM on the big screen, I'd say the fight isn't over! But it does seem to be a SAD DAY for realists in that we don't really seem to have a REAL website anymore & someone dedicated enough to see it through.

  4. I can't speak for everyone else but I personally have been busy with some life stuff that's come along.

And really, there's not tons and tons to talk about. Judging from Friday's episode, WB's movie division seems to have relaxed just about every restriction they ever had against SV... which should just about tell you how seriously they're pursuing a new Superman film right now. Until a new film is decided upon, SV is just about the only game in town in terms of Superman media.

And, because they're not Superman fans, naturally the Apologists want it to be cancelled.

  5. One other thing. All Kevin and I are doing is keeping Steve's seat warm until he's ready to come back. As he's the guy with the real connections, there's naturally going to be fewer posts going on.

  6. ^ That's really just about it. There isn't a whole lot of Superman themed news to cover right now. I know some people may be a little annoyed by the abundance of Smallville news and the lack of Superman movie news but that's only because there isn't really anything to report.

Smallville has been extremely good this season. Much better then season eight which was all over the place. The budget feels much better (despite no budget increase) and the writing team has really outdone themselves this year thus far. It should come as no surprise as to why I've been reporting Smallville news. The show is good (opinion) and it's practically the only live action Superman themed anything that's going on right now.

I will continue to update you guys when I see new Superman movie news along with other hot topics but until then, I hope everyone will just relax and enjoy the site for what it is. Even if it's not delivering everything people might want right now.

  7. Yea i agree this season has been doing pretty good. Hopefully we will know more on film series sooner rather then later. But untill all the legal mumbo jumbo is resovlved nothing is likely to happen there. I agree i think nowadays most of all the restrictions on the show have been lifted. I am sure a few are still in place for what ever the reasons may be. Sure the show isnt what some fans of superman like. But it is the only ongoing superman related project that is doing anything. I hope the rest of the season goes well too. So cant wait for pandora and then jsa two parter.

  8. Hey guys the rumor of amanda waller appearing a few weeks back. Has now been confirmed. Actress Pam Grier has been confirmed today to be playing the role. She will first be seen in legends then have a few other guest spots during the second half of the season.

  9. This is one of the best fanboy castings ever.

  10. I haven't seen Pam Grier in anything since Jackie Brown but when someone mentions Amanda Waller, Grier isn't who I think about in a live action adaptation.

Which is intended to be a compliment to Grier.

  11. No Grier doesn't look like the JLU Amanda Waller, but do you really expect them to pass on Pam Grier if they have the opportunity to get her? Its great casting. She's someone that will bring in more viewers. There's nothing about this casting that can be considered negative.

  12. And I love Pam Grier. Have since I was watching her in the Blaxploitation movies in the 70s. But she has gotten long in the tooth, and is what I would consider more thick than Foxy. But she is still sexy as hell.

  13. YEa i personally and i know others would have loved to see CCH pounder get to play the role in live action, since she looks and played the part well in jl/jlu and batman/superman public enemies. But she likely wasnt looked at for the role, plus she is currently shooting another series right now. So she probably wouldnt have been free.

But Grier from what i read online she is a very creditable actress and she should be fine as waller.

  14. Big NEWS!!!!!!
EW has confirmed by CW insiders the two part JSA episodes which were originally planned to air apart. Will now air as a 2hr TV movie EVENT. It will air Jan 29th. Also good news on JSA episodes is they were given a bigger episode(s) budget to play with.

Man this is going to be great to see it aired together. This will probably help give the show a big ratings increase for that friday. Cant wait.
