First look at Maxwell Lord and more!

Smallville returns on Friday April 2nd at 8PM Eastern with a new episode of Smallville. The episode, "Escape" deals with Lois and Clark taking a vacation at a Bed & Breakfast when a few unexpected guests show up. The above imagine is a scene in an upcoming episode which introduces the DC character, Maxwell Lord. Read the text on the above picture for more information.

For those interested, you can see who two of the unexpected guests are in the episode, "Escape" by watching this recently released Webclip:

Ausiello has unveiled that the Grim Reaper is visiting Smallville again this year to kill off another major character in the season finale. He gives some hints on the possible death in which you can read here:

Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) has also confirmed that he has no intention on returning to Smallville but has unveiled that he is working on a new comedy series entitled, "Saved by Zeroes" in which you can read about here:

The Smallville writers (Through Twitter) has recently announced that the filming up the season finale, "Salvation" has began on Tuesday. It is said to be "Epic" and will also feature at least one member of the JSA.

Also, for those interested, here are a few set pictures for the episode, "Hostage" showing the actors who play Perry White and Martha Kent:

The original Smallville Producers are suing Warner Brothers claiming that Warner Brothers self-dealing have cost them millions. Will this effect Smallville season 10 in any way? Who knows but you can read about the lawsuit here:

Thankfully there will be no more hiatuses for the rest of the Smallville season. The next episode, "Escape" looks like a good one so make sure to tune in this Friday to watch it and make sure to leave some comments below.

  1. Yea very cool webclip for escape, cant wait for friday. Also great no more breaks between now and salvation woot woot. Also the photos of tom/annette/erica/michael mckean are great to see.

As for michael rosenbuam. Yea its probably very doubtful we will see him return at all. I do wish him the best of luck with his new syfy channel comedy show he is working on. Though i do hope the slime hope he would/they would convince him to at least do the series finale. But if not it will be a bit disapointing.

As for the gough/miller news. Very interesting stuff there. i am a bit shocked to see that new article from a few days ago. Funny they didnt do this lawsuit after they left. But hopefully it wont affect anything for the show's tenth season.

Cool info about max lord character. Should be very interesting to see what his character has in store for the smallville regulars. Also i really do hope lord/waller are a big part of season ten.

Ah you got to love smallville’s old friend here death death death. Their is hardly a season finale where someone isnt getting killed or near death. Now for me personally. The only logical deaths would be chloe due to allison’s as we know right now doesnt have a 10th season contract. Though i really hope if she isnt in 10th for her character not to be killed off. That would be so anticlamatic for me for her character.

Since fans were saying from day one pretty much oh chloe is probably going to die….. As for another possible one i would say zod. Yes callum is rumored to be on a two yr contract for the show. But we know contracts change all the time. Plus if they plan to do the rumored darkseid threat or have checkmate/sucide squad be a bigger threat in season 10 i dont really see the need for zod. Now i would have said Tess, but with the very likely hood of us probably not having lex back. She would need to be around to fill his void. But i would see her probably being bumped off by series finale.

As for the remaining cast doubtful they would bump off anyone. We know clark and lois are safe of course, and ollie is likely too. since Cw has justin under contract and he is best used on smallville in my opinion. And no way they would probably kill martha or perry, plus we dont know if they will or will not be around next season at all.

  2. I've predicted Chloe's death a lot. She seems like the safe choice since Mack is I think on record saying she's done with SV after this season. It's a possibility.

I guess it could Lois though. Hey, maybe Geoff Johns could write an episode where it's revealed that the Lois we thought we knew was actually a robotic decoy. I mean, it's not like he'd ever use that plot in back to back Superman comics or anything!

  6. Since this site is pretty dead now, I think I'll talk about a movie that, looking back on it, was COMPLETELY forgettable, but shouldn't have been:

    AVATAR

    Did anyone see this? (kidding)

I read an early draft of the script about 5 years ago, and I thought "Wow, that would make a pretty bad ass movie". We kill our planet, cover every inch with streets and cities, and war is rampant. And guess what? They actually SHOW the Earth! Not just some throwaway dialogue, actual SCENES! But I digress...

We find a planet with similar conditions as Earth, breathable air, plant life, wildlife. So we send up troops and heavy machinery and start mowing shit down. Guess what? The locals don't appreciate this, and they start killing our people, destroying our machines, and just making life as difficult as possible. So they come up with the "Avatar" program, and want to send a soldier in to convince the locals to stop fighting us, and let us move in on their turf.

All the training scenes were pretty similar, but more focus on him seeing the "beauty of nature", and slowly becoming one of them. The attacks continue, and he takes part eventually. Of course he gets found out, and while he is in his Avatar, they pull the plug on him, ironically enough on his birthday, and KILL him.

The locals perform a ceremony, and transfer his "soul" into his Avatar permanently. Once this is done, he leads the locals and the HUGE creatures in the forest against the humans and tear their compound apart. It was good, to the point, and extremely enjoyable.

What DID we get? "Unobtanium"? WTF??

I saw it twice in 2 days, and promptly forgot about it about a week later. That says a lot coming from someone who was looking forward to this film coming out.

    Just plain forgettable.

  10. Father Finian,

I know what you mean! One thing I DON'T understand is WHY hasn't the news been reported on here about WB's superhero news that was reported over at SHH? I haven't checked duh Homopage yet but SHH/Comingsoon DID report on the plans. Basically it involves Warners & IMAX over the next several years, through 2013, a 20-picture deal, with IMAX technology, some in 3-D, & among the list is Batman 3 and SUPERMAN!!!!! Yes, apparently that WILL happen & involve IMAX!

My question is, WHY hasn't that been reported HERE?!

  13. I could probably deal with it if Steve could post comments now and then updating us on reboot news. For the first time in a long time, there's something to say other than making fun of how lame Singerman turned out.

    You out there, Steve?

Steve has nothing to do with this site any longer, and all of his old e-mail address' are no longer valid.

And poking fun of Singerman Peeps is STILL fun. Kind of, "nostalgic".....

A glimpse of the future? What might we see? And which character is doing the glimpsing? Might be kind cool if it's Tess. If she saw Superman, she'd probably keep it under her hat.

    Very interesting.

  17. Ya know, in discussing Steve, or even Emi for that matter, I sometimes wonder about their 'validity'. Let me explain.

Look, I know a REAL person posted those articles & such. It wasn't a 'bot'. "Steve' even responded to my e-mails maybe a couple of times when the website was still active. However, with that being said, methinks me smelleth something 'rotten in Denmark' here.

OK, this 'countingdown' site or whatever it is, a couple of years ago or so, maybe 3, someone named 'Emi' became very controversial for her stance on SINGERMAN. Add to this her 'insider info'. Well, then she starts her own blog or site. However, she conveniently abdicates said site & her husband 'Steve' fills in, so Steve becomes the 'go-to' guy. Eventually some pro-gay group tries to force Steve off. Steve comes back fighting, but alas, barely 3 weeks pass & he announces that he's closing the site. Maybe Singer was finished but I wouldn't exactly say 'mission accomplished' either. But then this blog was born, & soon that fizzled too with neither party anywhere in sight!

They supposedly had a divorce, but I submit to you, what IF they were one & the SAME PERSON?! I mean, this IS the Internet, isn't it. Anyone can say or do anything. Could someone have been 'playing' us?! I don't know. The whole thing smells mighty fishy to me. And now that we've got TRUE REBOOT news, neither one of them is anywhere in sight.....AGAIN.

    YOU be the judge.

  18. Is it just me or did tonight's Smallville kick an unprecedented amount of ass?

"You can't leave with telling [Lois] goodbye!" Some folks think the SV folks had an eye on Singer when that line was written. You decide.

  19. Not just you, tonight's Smallville did kick an UNPRECEDENTED amount of ass... Best episode ever IMO. It really feels like we're only a step or two away from Superman.

I was surprised really, I didn't think the writers had it in them, but they really pulled off an incredible finale for a change. Got chills multiple times throughout the episode, especially in the opening scene.

Erica and Tom are so outstanding as Lois and Clark I really can't imagine anyone else playing them in this generation's Superman story. As needed as a reboot is and as bad as I want to see a new Superman movie, I just can't seem to get overly excited for it knowing they probably won't be in it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. "You can't leave with telling [Lois] goodbye!" Some folks think the SV folks had an eye on Singer when that line was written. You decide."

This season finale was THE most "Superman" of all previous finale's. It set-up next seasons storyline, resolved this seasons, and gave us a "super-fight" to boot. Good job on them.

As to the quote above, Green Arrow's "smirk" when he said it pretty much PROVED those people right.

Singerman ditches his woman on a whim. Superman doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Surprisingly I didn't even link 'Clark leaving without saying goodbye to Lois' to Singerman until you guys brought it up. However, I DID link that final scene to Singerman. Remember when Clark sacrificed himself to get rid of Zod? Well, he was falling to the Earth in the Singerman pose like when Singerman fell to earth in THAT debacle! Were they 'paying homage' or was that just a slap in the face to Singer?

Also, when Tess 'died', supposedly, some creepy bag-lady type was outside knitting or something & came in after Tess passed. My guess is that it was LEX! Yes! Remember Lois' dream? Lex was running for president in 2013. Coincidentally the new Superman reboot has to be completed by 2013, correct? Coincidence, or not? Since Lex was pictured at the beginning of the episode, & Tess worked for him, MY guess it was him in disguise. Now, I know THAT wasn't Michael Rosenbaum, but isn't he supposed to make some appearances next season, or was that just false rumors?

On another note, did anyone see the season finale of SUPERNATURAL? If you didn't you missed it. It ROCKED! I liked it when SV & Supernatural were paired up together & didn't like it when they split them up. I for one wanted that cross-over that had been discussed. And the thing is, Supernatural was SUPPOSED to have ended after 5 seasons but good ratings got it renewed for a 6th. However, the episode DID play more like a SERIES FINALE so it begs the question, how are they gonna top THAT?! Now, I don't know if this would have any connection to SV or not, but a week ago when the Horseman known as 'Death' talked with Dean, he made reference to this not being the ONLY solar system, that kind of thing. What could THAT have meant? When you think about Dean & Sam's 'Apocalypse' & SV having their OWN coming 'Apocalypse' or whatever, it makes you think. It's probably wishful thinking but it would be good if they crossed over. Maybe Sam could drink some 'Phantom Zone' blood & exorcise some phantoms or something. ;)

  24. I've never been into comic books, so I don't personally know the ins and outs of the DC mythology, but I've seen a ton of people say the old lady was Granny Goodness who is linked to Darkseid.

If you didn't know Darkseid is heavily rumored to be next season's villain mainly stemming from the multiple references to Darkseid's planet Apokolips this past season, most recently mentioned by Martha Kent as The Red Queen in Hostage. Geoff Johns confirmed he wrote it as "Apokolips," not apocolypse in Absolute Justice, so everyone assumes Darkseid is the next villain.

Anyways back to Granny, according to Wiki "Granny runs the 'orphanage' on Apokolips and is the chief of the Female Furies." The Female Furies are a group of female warriors who are "fanatically loyal" to Darkseid. Some are speculating Tess will become a member of the Furies. Granny also had a dog named Mercy she was forced to train then kill. May not be anything, but I could see the writers trying to loosely tie Tess in with that (not asNot as a dog obviously) considering her nickname was Mercy.

As for Oliver, people think he was captured by Parademons which are Darkseid's "shock troops." From Wiki: "Loyal to their master but none too bright, the armored Parademons fly through the air, carrying powerful weapons used to quell the rabble. Their true strength is in their numbers, which reach into the thousands. When acting together, they can overwhelm even the toughest heroes. They are chosen from the most sociopathic and cruel residents before being given gliders and trained in combat. They are often accompanied by gigantic dogs called Hounds."

Also, Maxwell Lord is expected back next season, and my guess is Checkmate will be back too.

Michael Rosenbaum sadly is not. His new show got picked up by some cable channel and he reiterated on Twitter recently that he is never coming back to Smallville which totally sucks.

Anyways, that's the early rumors for next season. Darkseid probably trying to take over the planet or something.

When the show was renewed for season 9 the producers said they had two seasons worth of stories they wanted to tell if it got picked up for season 10, so it should be awesome since they've had it all mapped out for quite awhile.

What I really care about though is Clark finally putting on the suit (and at least something similar in the beginning), the glasses, learning how to fly and someone finally calling him Superman! That all needs to happen next season, no matter if its renewed again or not. They can't drag that out any longer. I don't mind if they break their rules and do a Superman show (especially if Tom and Erica aren't going to be in the movie), but it's time for Clark Kent to become Superman.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "And one MORE thing. There was something regal & Superman-like about that THEME music & not one hint of John Williams, so it CAN be done!"
Yeah, those morons (usually Apologists, but not always) who say Superman can't ever possibly have any other theme unless it's the fucking Williams main title all look pretty stupid right about now. Idiots.

"Oh, almost forgot. When Chloe & Oliver thought that Kandorians were closing in on him, didn't Oliver tell Chloe over the cell phone that they WEREN'T Kandorians?! So who was THAT? Speculation?"
    Parademons.

"However, I DID link that final scene to Singerman. Remember when Clark sacrificed himself to get rid of Zod? Well, he was falling to the Earth in the Singerman pose like when Singerman fell to earth in THAT debacle! Were they 'paying homage' or was that just a slap in the face to Singer?"
I wondered about that too. But keep in mind, Superman in SV had just saved the entire world from destruction and conquest at the hands of Zod and the Kandorians, and then fell to what he assumed would be his death (although obviously he'll somehow get through it).

Singerman burned up some glass bits, got the shit beat out of him by Spacey and then fell to Earth in what he assumed would be unconsciousness (although it may as well have been his death since that piece of shit movie obviously isn't getting a sequel).

Jesus references aside, you tell me which is more heroic and epic. I don't know if this was an intentional slap in the face to the Singermen and to the Apologists but I do think it's pretty ballsy to take your competition's signature move and say "no you idiots, THIS is how you do it!"

Any way you care to look at it, the last five minutes of Salvation are bigger and more epic than the entirety of Singerman. Period.

  26. I couldn't tell you, I never actually made it to the end of Returns. Didn't know Routh fell like Welling did in Salvation. Tried watching SR 6 times (once on DVD, 5 on TV) and every single time, I either fell asleep halfway through or changed the channel because it was so boring. Just an awful movie. Oh and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane had to be the single worst casting choice in the history of film making.

If the way Returns started is any indication though, I'd say Clark in Salvation was way more epic. Nothing epic about SR.

    ReplyDelete
  27. "I couldn't tell you, I never actually made it to the end of Returns"
Allow me to summarize the end for you then.

Spacey thinks of and speaks to Routh like a jealous ex-boyfriend. Routh evetually puts on his little Singerman bikini and flies off to rescue Lois from her own stupidity but has to fly back to Sydney to save the citizens from broken shards of glass (Spacey's "epic" plan for taking over the world in action, I guess). After a while, Singerman flies to Spacey's drabby and boring new landmass, gets the stuffings kicked out of him and then Lois and her idiot family have to rescue Singerman from his own stupidity.

Singerman then goes back to the island (durrr, maybe it'll work THIS time!), hoists the Kryptonite island (y'know, the shit that can supposedly kill him?) and throws it into space.

Then he does the Jesus pose for a little while (such subtle filmmaking), roll credits, cancel sequel, almost kill the franchise.

Thanks, Bryan Singer! And by "thanks", I actually mean "fuck you".

Someone should get Souders and Peterson onboard so they can make a REAL Superman film.

I'm not saying you're definitely wrong. But I will say that Steve was the first to report *ANY* kind of suit for season 9 that I know about. He said that much was definitely happening.

He went on to say that the show might become a Superman vehicle in some form but that was a lot sketchier and more uncertain.

Obviously the suit thing ended up happening. As for the Superman show... well, Greg Beeman reported that he signed on to direct what he expected to be the series finale. Obviously that ended up being Salvation. But apparently there was a point when the crew thought they were making a final season. That being the case, who's to say that the showrunners didn't have a Superman mini-arc ready to plug in as a thank you to fans for hanging in there all these years?

I'm not ready to count him out yet.

You compare this to some other "insiders" from pages like Superhero Hype who are OBVIOUSLY fakes. A supposed Smallville crew member posts I think on SHH a lot of cryptic bullshit that begs a *LOT* of questions but when people follow up wanting more info, he/she says "oh I'm SO sorry but I simply CAN'T say anything more, it's just TOO risky" fucking blah blah blah. This douche implied that Welling was some sort of prima donna on set (when EVERYONE on the show, past and present says 100% otherwise) and that sort of nonsense.

I'd like to think my bullshit detector works well enough to pick out obvious fakers. If Steve's a faker, he's gotten lucky quite a lot.

  30. Thanks for the recap. That sounds retarded.

I don't know if you guys have seen this yet, or how credible IESB is, but their sources say the reboot is targeted for Xmas 2012. What I found interesting in the story though is how they're apparently mapping out the timeline of the various DC films they're producing now. The quote:

"Our sources are telling us there is a chronology in play with these movies. Batman Begins is being specifically referred to as "Action Comics #1." Translation: Nolan's Batman is the first (and only) superhero around. During Batman Begins that is. As well as The Dark Knight that is going by "Action Comics #2."

"What would be the third "issue," you ask? Martin Campbell's Green Lantern. In fact, there are still on-going talks to make references to Gotham City if not Batman himself. And although Superman himself isn't around just yet in this time-line, Clark Kent does exist in Smallville - the fictional town in Kansas, not the television series. You just know somebody is going make that assumption. At the moment, that's where the "comic series" stops."

"So for you good folks saying how Batman (as played by Christian Bale) couldn't co-exist with Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern and whatever no-name actor cast as the next Superman, WB/DC are hard at work to make it all make sense."

Early rumors indicated they would assume the audience was already familiar with Clark, Lois, Jimmy, etc and wouldn't be doing any origin stories.

It seems to me, if they wanted to, they have everything perfectly lined up to officially or unofficially continue the Smallville series on the big screen with the reboot or at least put Welling in the role.

I know the IESB story says that's not what was meant, but those guys are really against Welling taking the role. Maybe they assumed their sources weren't talking about the show...who knows.

I'm sure it's still a very slim chance especially with Nolan attached who probably wants his own actors, but it seems they're setting the table for it even if its just a coincidence. I guess the only reason I'm holding out hope is because Geoff Johns is now one of the DC execs in control of the movies. He always said great things about Tom and loves Smallville so I'm hoping he's pushing for it.

  33. Philvis, maybe you're right about that. I didn't check that. Link please?

But YEAH, you've gotta admit that there's something really LOUSY about this entire situation! We REALISTS thought we could finally have our won say without having to deal with duh apologists & the constant threats of BEING BANNED. I felt like 'Save Superman' was something really worthwhile & it felt like we were on a roll! Then it's like the rug is just pulled out from under us. Even IF they're 2 separate people & even if they were legitimate, may I ask what happened?! WHY did THEY abandon ship when the battle was NOT really won?! In hindsight it does kinda make one question their motives. You'd especially think we'd REALLY hear from them now but instead it's SILENCE. What's up with THAT?!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't think her blog is online anymore. I just did a search and couldn't find it. As far as this site goes, Steve was getting divorced. A Superman site really doesn't stay a priority if you are going through that and I don't blame him.

He at one time also mentioned that he felt the site served its intended purpose once it became clear Singerman wouldn't be involved. If I remember correctly, there was a big issue with one of his major sources as well. He didn't want to expose the source of his information because it would get the guy fired. In all honesty, there really hasn't been any earth shattering news regarding Superman movies, so its not like we've missed anything. As secretive as Nolan is, I seriously doubt much will leak out anyhow once things do develop.

I did enjoy Steve's tidbits and am sure he will resurface when the time is right. Don't beat a man while he is down.

    ReplyDelete
  35. "I did enjoy Steve's tidbits and am sure he will resurface when the time is right. Don't beat a man while he is down."

People have a right to ask their questions about what happened. He was VERY "high profile" for a long time, then he just vanished.

"Yeppers. Hell, I could even live with Geoff Johns writing the thing if the movie used the SV cast and backstory."

I've never advocated Smallville or Welling for Superman, but it WOULD make it easier on the film franchise to use it as a "springboard".

Plus, it will erase that ignorant notion of Batman Begins being "Action Comics #1". Smallville was around for 5 seasons PRIOR to Begins coming out, and could explain why no one has heard of Superman in the Bat-Universe.

    ReplyDelete

  37. Yeah, 'Steve' WAS very high profile. Wasn't 'Save Superman' even mentioned on some NEWS BROADCASTS or something? He was supposedly in direct competition to Eunuch himself. NO reason to be upset, huh, Philvis?!

  38. I'm sure everyone saw this coming, but it's official now. Season 10 will be the final season of Smallville.

Reports coming in from all over. Here's Variety's.

Unless they were going to transition the show into "Metropolis" or something, it's the right move. Now they have time to end the show the right way instead of rushing the end like they did with season 8. I just hope Clark becomes Superman before the final five minutes of the finale (I'd like to see him as Superman for more than one scene), though I'm expecting that's what will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  39. All I was saying is there isn't need to get upset with the guy. He came on here and explained he was getting divorced and that he was handing the reigns over to someone else because of the situation. While I miss the inside scoops/gossip, I understand why his priorities may have shifted away from the site. That's all I'm saying.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I doubt it means much since he made it pretty clear he didn't know anything about season 10 yet, but Tom Welling told everyone the number one thing he wants in season 10 is the return of Lex Luthor. He said (in his opinion) the relationship between Clark and Lex is what pushes Clark to finally become Superman.

Would be great if MR came back, but I'm not holding my breath.

Dawn Ostroff said the plan is to bring back a bunch of "interesting" guest stars from the past. Welling wants to see Lex, Jonathan Kent and Lana return. Chloe will only appear in limited episodes next season to wrap up her character.

Tom basically told everyone the network decided season 10 was their last, not them, and seemed to be (somehow) hopeful for another season if enough people watch. As for the suit, Tom says he is "absolutely terrified" to wear it, but doesn't seem totally against it. He also doesn't think we'll see it (on him at least) until the very end.

More at Fancast and interview with Tom on IGN

By the way, been a long time lurker. Started following EmiJayne on CD shortly after IESB reported Tom Welling was playing Superman in the Justice League movie that never happened. I figured I would start posting some news and stuff since no one else is. I hate to see this site die, even if Emi and Steve are long gone.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This is the first time he's really talked about wearing the suit as far as I know. And he seems willing to wear it in some way or another. If it is true that season 10 hasn't really been planned out yet then it stands to reason that he wouldn't know when he'll wear the suit.

Clark is now Superman in everything but name. I would think it'd be hard to justify not wearing a suit he already has for the entire season. At least, not without it feeling like a copout.

If it's true that the network is ending the show, it makes sense. They've got enough other shows to keep them going now. I get the idea that Dawn O never liked SV or anything else from the old WB days but needed a few of them to keep the CW afloat. Oh well, I don't think anybody really wanted an 11th season anyway.

  42. Obviously I'd like for him to wear the suit...ideally at least for the last half of the season. I seriously doubt that will happen, but it would be nice. I like Smallville for what it is. I don't compare it to the comics, as I never read them, but have enjoyed the show thoroughly. It's had plenty of crappy episodes, just like any other show that has been around for 9 seasons, but overall, I think the product has been pretty good.

I really am anticipating seeing how they are going to work out the alter-ego bit. Considering everyone knows who Clark is, how are they going to separate him from Superman without people relating the two? I think it will either have something to do with Dr. Fate or Martian Manhunter. That's the part I think can either be genius or turn out to be a big fail.

He came on here and explained he was getting divorced and that he was handing the reigns over to someone else because of the situation. While I miss the inside scoops/gossip, I understand why his priorities may have shifted away from the site. That's all I'm saying."

And I was just saying that people were right to question what happened to the guy. I don't think people were "angry" per se, just baffled at what is going on with him, and his disappearance.

  44. I guess Steve is still posting at Countingdown.com. He truly DID turn his back on this place.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You're right AP! This morning before work I briefly checked that out but I didn't have time to do so in detail. I'll have to do that at my convenience. However, I DID scroll down the page & it appears 'STEVE' posted a NUMBER of posts/responses on that Superman thread! I mean, what can I say? Benedict Arnold would be proud, right?! This blows green donkey balls! :(

  46. Can someone post a link? Countingdown is a shit website so navigation is a waste of time.

  48. Yeah, 'Steve' seems to be expounding upon his 'knowledge' of what Nolan's intentions REALLY are & he also makes it a point to talk about his 'script' for how HE would've rebooted the Superman franchise. Funny thing though, he USED to do that with US! I DID notice that 'THE STAR TREKKER' from the old Save Superman site seems to also be posting there. I expected to see WEBHEAD there but haven't yet. So STEVE, what explanation have YOU?! Should we lump you in now with Eunuch & Fagley?! It's a wonder you ain't posting at duh Homopage!

Oh, check out SHH. WB has supposedly given more DC film news, with Superman being scheduled for around Christmas 2012.

Ya know, I used to dig on Steve. It's strange to criticize someone on their own abandoned blog but here we are.

Seems to me he's not an Apologist in the same sense that Younis and Bailey were (and still are, I don't give a shit what Bailey says now "upon reflection") but it sure looks like he's the same enemy of the fans that they are.

    Just can't believe it. Pathetic...

  52. Geez kids, and you wonder why Steve decided not to come back here? There is nothing wrong with not liking Singerman or whatever, but the approach is everything. When you act like kids about things stooping down to name calling and going on and on with it, the credibility of the person running site who was trying to proactively not let Singer and company continue to ruin Superman, goes down the toilet. When the flock gets out of hand and make themselves look no better than the "apologists" or whoever they were trying to be proactive against, its best to disassociate oneself from them if you want to keep any credibility. Seriously, take a look at yourselves. All you do is spew hate on anyone who doesn't agree with you. This site was great originally because you could express your opinion without fear of being banned by crazy mods, but now many of the "regulars" that are left here have done nothing but become the jackasses they came here for to avoid. Time to move on kids. If you don't like apologists, fine. A lot of us don't like Superman Returns or Routh or Singer. At this juncture, its a moot point as Singer isn't involved with the new Superman, whenever it materializes, so all is well.

Seriously though, take a look at how you act. Instead of voicing opinions, you just voice hate and discontent if you are not agreed with. Steve originally said he was leaving the site because he felt it accomplished what he set out to do and because of personal issues. You can't fault him because he has had no desire to come back. What's there to come back to anyhow...a handful of people with bully-like mentalities? No thanks. It may have been funny the first couple times someone put down an "apologist", because it was the first time anyone really could go against the grain, but after that, it just became unfunny and childish. God Bless internet anonymity. Without it, kids wouldn't be able to voice their opinions online safely.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Up until about a week ago, nobody aside from the occasional troll (or Apologist) spoke out against Steve. He was generally very well regarded, as far as I know.

Further, I believe his original announcement about his departure said it would be strictly temporary.

You have to admit, this looks pretty bad.

  54. Wow, what a long, whiny, bullshit-filled monologue THAT was...

So it's OUR fault Steve tucked-tail and ran? It was US who made him lie to the people who were "loyal" to him? Give me a fucking break.

Just because YOU like to post in places where ANY type of "free thinking" is not only discouraged, but outright NOT ALLOWED, doesn't mean the rest of us want to. Go back to posting where there are "moderators" who will "protect you" from the mean and nasty people on the internets who talk like big people do.

    You're wasting our time.

  55. Ahhhh, I did a quick Google search of both "Philvis" and "Superman", and lookey what I came up with:

    "Good news
Commented By: Philvis on 2008-10-09 22:19:55
Routh was the one good thing I took out of that pile of crap movie. As a guy that pretty much hated SR, I say bring him back in the reboot. Face it, the guy is Superman."

Wow. Looks like we have a Routh-Apologist amongst us, trying to "lecture" US on what he thinks is "appropriate".

Get the fuck outta here and don't come back, junior.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ya know what? It never ceases to amaze me the multitude of people who CONTINUALLY whine for Brandon 'BJ' Routhman to reprise his role as Singerman! WTF?! Do you REALIZE how that sounds?! To 'paraphrase' Philvis: "Superman Returns as a film blows chunks but Brandon Routh himself, he IS Superman! PUH-LEAZZZEE let him be in the reboot?!" That drivel sounds like duh apologists at duh Homopage except for maybe the condemnation of Singerman.

As for 'STEVE', WHY are you defending him so vehemently Philvis? Didn't HE let US down?! You make it sound the other way around! And don't forget, MY point was that there was something FISHY about this whole transaction, if you will. I mean, I wasn't born YESTERDAY, ya know?! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to decipher that there's something rotten in Denmark!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Didn't that Star Treker dude stick up for Routh on countingdown or one of those other sites? Hard to remember.

Why in the hell can't people be consistent about this stuff?

As to Routh, he was stiff and wooden in the role and doesn't deserve to come back, except maybe in a cameo role along the lines of the following:

Superman and Brainiac (or which ever villain) are scrapping down and Superman punches Brainiac through a building.

The building is hosting a comic book convention and BJ Boy is there in full Singerman regalia and Brainiac is all "who the fuck are you supposed to be? Oh wait, you're Superman? That's supposed to be a SUPERMAN costume?! Son, I hate Superman and even I know he wouldn't be caught dead wearing a pleather cape. And wtf, S-textures all over the body suit? ARE YOU SERIOUS? How insecure are you, pal? And those Ace Frehley boots, what the fuck?!" And so forth. But even that would be too much and far more validation than the crappy Routh portrayal deserves.

    - colors

    ReplyDelete
  58. One major problem with 'BJ', besides the wooden acting, was that he simply didn't LOOK like Superman! NOT just the suit, I mean period. His neck was too skinny, he had a swimmer's physique, bushy eyebrows, you name it. To me his facial features were not even strong like Superman. But remember that SINGER chose him, & you get what you pay for, right?

Ya know, Christopher Reeve was a SKINNY guy when Richard Donner discovered him, even had blondish hair if I'm not mistaken. However, Donner must've seen some potential in Reeve that no one else could. He then obviously had the guy work out & bulk up & stuff & by the time the 1st film came out, YOU COULD BELIEVE THAT A MAN CAN FLY! The thing is though, isn't Routhman supposed to be similar in size to Reeve? WHY then, did we get such a WIMPY Singerman?! If WB & Nolan have ANY sense, they won't repeat THAT mistake!

non_amos (IF indeed that is my real name). ;)

    ReplyDelete
  59. "However, Donner must've seen some potential in Reeve that no one else could."

Here's the problem with BJ and Singer.... Singer looked for "Christopher Reeve" and "Nice Ass" FIRST, then tried to shoehorn them into being the character SECOND.

As you can see by the results, that was a fucked-up way to do it, and I'm glad both of these Sausage Nigel's are DONE.

    ReplyDelete
  62. "I expect Jonathan Nolan to be announced as the director in the coming months."
I'd be surprised if that happens. I can't really see a first timer like him being given the keys to a billion dollar franchise as a wise decision, I don't give a flip who his brother is.

Mind you, that's not saying it won't happen. WB hired Bryan Singer for crying out loud so obviously anything goes in that nuthouse. I'm just saying it'd be a bad idea business-wise.

  68. FRIDAY

    8:00-9:00 P.M. SMALLVILE

Entering its explosive tenth and final season, SMALLVILE culminates in the epic rise of the world’s ultimate hero – Superman. Finally working alongside the intrepid Lois Lane at the Daily Planet, Clark Kent had accepted his destiny as the guardian of Metropolis when General Zod arrived, challenging Clark’s authority and power. Just when the romance between Clark and Lois began to bloom, Clark was called into duty by the legendary Justice Society and his own burgeoning league of heroes to fight the gathering dark forces. As season nine drew to a close, Clark sacrificed himself to save the world from Zod. Season ten promises the classic reuniting of the timeless romance between Clark and Lois, and brings Clark face-to-face with his destiny as he overcomes his final trials and forges the iconic identity that will be known for all time. The series stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Erica Durance as Lois Lane, Justin Hartley as Oliver Queen and Cassidy Freeman as Tess Mercer. SMALLVILE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”), based on the DC Comics characters. Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson serve as executive producers, along with James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola and Tom Welling. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

  71. Season ten premiere title:

Episode #10-1: "Lazarus" (Season Premiere) Fall 2010

UPDATED 6/16/10: Title Posted. Please do not re-post this on other sites without mentioning the title's source (KryptonSite) with a link to the site.
    - The term "Lazarus" has been used before on the series, in Season Three, where it was a serum that brought a deceased human back to life for 12 hours, as had happened with Adam Knight. It's also well-known in the DC Comics universe as the "Lazarus Pit" is a term used in Batman comics, usually associated with Ra's Al Ghul. The Pit has rejuvenating abilities that can render someone youthful and nearly immortal. The fourth season premiere of Supernatural was titled "Lazarus Rising" and was about Dean's return to the world of the living, and of course there is the Lazarus referred to in the Christian Bible, a man who was restored to life by Jesus in the Book of John. Perhaps one or all of these things are clues on how Clark will survive his fall.

With the tenth and final season of "Smallville" coming this fall, one of the main questions on the minds of the fans is whether Tom Welling's Clark Kent will finally step up and become Superman. And according to Welling, it will finally happen.

"Yeah, that's the plan," Welling told The Flickcast, when asked if he would become Superman this season. "I don't know how they're going to do it, but I know that inevitably, that's where we get to."

"[The Superman costume] looks good," added Welling. "I wasn't there when they shot it on set. I was actually on another stage shooting something else. But I know what it looks like."

Welling also offered his thoughts on wearing the Superman suit both for himself and his character.

"I think it's a huge responsibility for Clark and for me," explained Welling. "And hopefully, we can get to a place where the fans feel as though we did everything that we could. We serviced the character the way that will make them all happy."

Regarding long-standing rumors that he could play Superman on the big screen, Welling replied, "I've always been open to the idea. It's not as simple as everyone would like to think."

"It's not as simple as me wanting to do it or not wanting to do it," he explained. "I know that a lot of people want to jump on me or jump on Warner Brothers. It's just not that simple. So there's a lot of elements that have to come together."

The season premiere of "Smallville" will air on Friday, September 24.
